Rewind 2023: the year the community happened
2023 was the year that set the direction. A hackathon in March, a global Google win in the middle of the year, an AI club, a technology and innovation project, and a scholarship alliance to close it. Everything I build today with community started here.

What happened, in order
- 01March 2023
Second place at the hackathon
The year opened with a hackathon and a second place. It was small on paper, but it was the validation the team needed to keep building the AI mosquito trap.
- 02Mid 2023
Winning the Google Solution Challenge
We reached the final and won the global competition. A student team from Santa Cruz competing — and winning — worldwide changed what the people around us believed was possible.

First AI Club and FICCT.AI
We inaugurated the first Artificial Intelligence Club and the FICCT.AI community at Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno, with one goal: make the progress of AI reach students who had no access to it.

Sharing the stage at DevFest
Each in-person event organized by GDG Santa Cruz meant meeting people doing serious work in tech and AI — Lesly Zerna among them — and the honour of sharing the DevFest Santa Cruz stage with Nathaly Alarcón and Nicolas Molina Monroy.

Project VISION: innovation and startups
With Universitarios por los ODS and FICCT Community we launched VISION, an innovation and technology club aimed at building a real ecosystem of technological entrepreneurship and startups inside the university.

Full scholarships with DataCamp
We closed the year with an alliance with DataCamp to fully fund scholarships for people who wanted to start a career in AI and Data Science in 2024 — a concrete way to reduce Bolivia's technology gap.
Closing
What FICCT Community said goodbye to the year with
2023 leaves us with experiences and learnings we will keep. It fills us with pride to see how far we've come and how much we've grown as a community, reaching an unforgettable milestone by winning Google's international competition.
